Sneakerheads Rejoice: $136 Vegan Lettuce Slides Are Finally Here

If you see people lined up around the block outside the sneaker store this is why: Rombaut Super Greens! Lettuce Slides. According to the ShopRombaut site they’re 100% rubber upper, 100% EVA (a polymer typically used as a shock absorber in sports shoes) and they fit true to size. This limited edition veggie flop is on pre-order now and only 50 pairs will be ready to ship by the end of October.

They also come in what I can only assume is Super Cabbage! and I’m not sure if that’s included in the 50 pairs so you might want to hurry.

From Vogue:

How does hard-core veganism take form in footwear? Look to designer Mats Rombaut, the man behind the vegan shoe brand Rombaut. The young label produces pieces like Tomb Raider–style boots and platform wing tips that have caught the eyes of models like Bella Hadid. Now, Rombaut, a vegan himself, has come up with a literal interpretation of nonmeat shoes: green pool slides with a vibrant butter lettuce–leaf upper and a healthy kale-hue sole. The lifelike Lettuce Slides have already caught the eye of Hadid’s stylist Mimi Cuttrell, who Instagrammed a pair with the caption: “Protein Style.”

Ehhh, hard pass. This is what I prefer when it comes to Protein Style.
