Des Moines Register- A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder in the killing of a former Iowa State University student-athlete who was found dead Monday at an Ames golf course, police said. Collin Daniel Richards, who authorities said has no known address, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Celia Barquin Arozamena, Ames police said late Monday night. Barquin Arozamena, the 2018 Big 12 champion and Iowa State Female Athlete of the Year, was found dead Monday morning at the Coldwater Links golf course, authorities said. The civil engineering student was assaulted before she died, police said. In a statement on Twitter, ISU President Wendy Wintersteen said she was deeply saddened to learn of Barquin Arozamena’s tragic death. She was a “talented student-athlete and an acclaimed golfer with a bright future.” “A terrible, tragic, senseless loss,” Wintersteen said.

What the hell is going on back in Iowa man? Jesus christ. Way too much bad news coming outta my home state lately. Just awful. A 22-year-old former Iowa State star golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena was found assaulted and murdered on a golf course in Ames late last night. The suspect is also 22 years old, Collin Daniel Richards. This of course comes off the heels of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts’ body being discovered about a month ago after she was murdered. Like I said before, way too much bad news coming outta my home state recently. Horrible stuff.

There aren’t many details yet about what happened and why between the two of them on the golf course but it’s not going to get any less tragic from here. It’s only gonna get worse as we get more details about the situation. The fact of the matter is that a 22-year-old woman is dead and a 22-year-old man is behind bars suspected of assaulting her and murdering her. There’s nothing good about any of that.
