The Montreal Canadiens Have Traded Max Pacioretty To The Vegas Golden Knights

The Montreal Canadiens have traded forward Max Pacioretty to the Vegas Golden Knights for forwards Nick Suzuki, Tomas Tatar, and a 2nd round pick. Pacioretty, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, is due 4.5m this upcoming season and the move will also save Vegas a little money in cap space.

Wow. How about that though? Nothing like a nice 2am trade on a Monday morning to get the juices flowing and get you ready for hockey season. My thoughts on the trade? I think it’s a steal for Vegas. I just don’t understand why Marc Bergevin insists on trading all his star players for pennies on the dollar.

If the trade was for a 1st round pick things would be different. But theres a very high chance the Habs 1st rounder is a lottery pick and I’m guessing there isn’t a chance in France that Bergevin would give that up, especially with the talent in the upcoming draft.

Is this trade better than previous ones Bergevin has done? I’d say so. But does that make it a good trade for both sides? I’d say no. I think the center piece in the deal was forward and 2017 13th overall pick Nick Suzuki. Kid absolutely lit up the OHL last season, putting up 100 point in just 64 games (42g, 58a). But you got to prove yourself at the NHL level, which Suzuki has yet to do. I mean, this kid could go out and put up 30 this year then it’s a win for the Habs. But until he does, he’s just prospect.

Good of McPhee to get rid of Tatar as well. What a terrible trade that was. A first-round pick in 2018, a second-round pick in 2019, and a third-round pick in 2021 for a guy who was in a suit, watching half of the playoff games.

Pacioretty is good for 30 goals as well. I mean, other than last season that was plagued by injury and only led to 17 goals, his previous season he scored 35, 30, 37, and 39. The guy can play. Now surround him with some legit talent in Vegas? I think we could see 40 from the New Canaan, Connecticut native this season.

What the hell is Montreal doing? Where is their franchise going? Is this the beginning of “Lose For Hughes” so they can get the #1 overall pick and draft the NHL’s next big talent in Jack Hughes? Who knows. But I feel like they could have gotten more. So as a Bruins fan, it’s awesome to see their franchise going down the tubes.

They traded a star in his prime….again. What idiots. What dumb, french idiots.
