Fox NewsDid this bear’s appearance in a Colorado hotel lobby make for a spooky sight

The animal last week found its way into the Stanley Hotel — which once inspired Stephen King to write “The Shining,” Fox 31 reported.

The hotel’s vice president, Reed Rowley, told the station that the incident unfolded early Thursday morning.

A front desk supervisor captured video of the romp, which took place as 300 guests were sound asleep, the station reports.

I’m not a huge horror movie guy. As a child, the scariest movie I ever attempted to sit through was Dumbo, an animated Disney classic about an elephant with ears so big he could fly. I finished that movie for the first time at the age of 18, so it goes without saying “The Shining” is far from a favorite.

Even if you’ve never seen it, it’d be impossible to not recognize some of the iconic images or lines from the classic Stanley Kubrick horror flick, based off the Stephen King novel it shares a name with.

Now that you’re sitting in a puddle of your own urine like myself, we can talk about the bear. He looks like a nice fella who simply got a little lost in search of some post-hibernation food.

If I were running a hotel smack dab in the middle of bear country, I’d probably be a little more proactive about making sure they can’t just open the doors to the front lobby and come lumbering in, but I’m also very aware of the old adage “all press is good press” so maybe I’m missing something here. It’s been some time since the peak of popularity for “The Shining”, so I bet things have been somewhat slow for the old Stanley Hotel. People aren’t swarming to spend a night at the hotel once used as motivation for arguably one of the most well known horror novels and films in modern times like they used to. Nothing wrong with using some harmless video of a massive bear to get the people talking again.

Thank god all 300 hotel guests were sleeping peacefully upstairs while this happened, because if anyone else was around and reacted the way you’d expect a hotel guest to react upon seeing a giant bear in a hotel lobby, I’m sure things would’ve ended a lot differently here.

It’s also worth mentioning how impressively calm the front desk attendant stayed throughout the duration of this video. The guy is just sitting behind the counter calmly recording this thing while it climbs all over the expensive lobby furniture before turning around and coming right up to the counter, but I suppose it’s hard to capture the smell of all the warm feces beginning to pool in his undercarriage.
