Idris Elba Finally Answers If He Will Play Bond

I wouldn’t call this definitive by any means, but he was asked flatley if he was going to be the next 007 and said no. But it was sort of a fleeting, non-committal no. But, it was also a no.

For what it’s worth, think of it in the context of the franchise. Daniel Craig said this in reference to portraying Bond again last year “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.” Guess what he is in pre-production for right now? That’s right, another Bond movie. So really, anything is possible. Elba is the overwhelming people’s choice, which makes this news (potentially) suck. It’s so uncertain that this is how I feel like talking about it.

The for-certain bad news is the departure of Danny Boyle because of creative differences. This broke yesterday, and apparently he had some issues with Craig and the movie’s producers. So now they have to get a new director and a new face of the franchise to potentially set up.
