Preseason Hype Highlights: #9 TCU Horned Frogs

As we continue on with the countdown we swing by Texas Christian University. A fine school, pretty consistently competitive, a hilarious school mascot and so much more. Despite all of that, there’s absolutely only one player I want to discuss. One of the three best running backs of this century, LT.

HE WAS TRADED FOR MICHAEL VICK! What a crazy thing to happen. Why this isn’t brought up at least monthly I have no idea. But that ends today. The powder blue LT Chargers jerseys were nationwide during the mid-2000s because he was a maniac who carried San Diego’s offense for years. The Chargers’ receiving corp was so meh that true Madden players would line Tomlinson out at WR, pushing Michael “Burner” Turner to the starting role while also flexing a young Darren Sproles out to the slot. Now that was an offense.

But before he was setting NFL records, while wearing one of the better face masks the game has seen at the running back position, he was tearing it up as a Horned Frog. His senior year he finished fourth in the Heisman behind Chris Weinke, Josh Heupel, and future teammate Drew Brees. Despite playing at the tail end of the ’90s, there are limited LT TCU highlights readily available on the internet. Which is incredibly annoying for a man just trying to watch some tuddys.

He went on to become the first player to rush for 1,000 yards and catch 100 balls as a receiver in the same season. Oh yeah, LT also has completed eight career NFL passing attempts. Seven of those attempts were for touchdowns.
