These Ants Attacking A Wasp Nest By Forming A Hanging Bridge Are Absolutely Mind-Bottling

New York PostAstonishing footage captures the moment a million army ants worked together to build a bridge designed to help invade a giant wasp nest.

The highly-organized ants were captured on camera in Brazil by an electrical engineer, Francisco Boni.

He added: “When this type of attack happens, the wasps usually escape and the ants do not leave until they’ve completely looted the honeycomb, carrying pupae, larvae and eggs, as well as some adults who did not manage to escape. They can even build across the water!”

He explained the use of the bridge for the ants, saying: “For ants, it is more effective to follow the trail over a bridge that goes down and then up than in an inverted upside down walk.”

“Also likely that upside down the ants can’t carry significant loads.”

This shit is so crazy it honestly took me 10 seconds to process what I was even looking at. We’ve got army ants in Brazil forming bridges with their bodies that hang like a fucking jumprope from the roofs of people’s houses, and these ants are so fearless they’re attacking and raiding a wasp nest. Take a second and think about that. Ever been stung by a wasp? It ain’t no fun.

For those of you wondering why they can’t just crawl across the wood ceiling and into the hanging nest, take a deep breath and relax because I got you. They can’t do it that way because the whole point of doing this is to carry out supplies like larvae and eggs and dead wasps so they can feed their ant families. They can’t do that hanging upside down, so they build these bridges that they can climb up and down with ease, with as much loot in tow as they please.

How neat is that? Their whole plan of attack and execution of the bridge is so efficient I’m surprised Elon Musk didn’t show up to help and end up calling the queen ant a pedophile. Let the record show I’m also putting wasps on the hot seat for how scared they are of a bunch of ants that they could just sting? They just leave and let all their hard work go to waste while the ants eat all their eggs?

Not sure what’s going on there but damn, I feel like they should at least try to put up a fight.
