If I Got Hit With This Jose Aldo Body Shot I'd Sound Like The Grape Lady For WEEKS

This weekend at UFC on FOX 30, former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo returned to the octagon and got back on track with a devastating liver-shot KO of Jeremy Stephens, and I still haven’t gotten over it. Body shot KOs are something I sorta live for in MMA (and in boxing) because when you hear, “KNOCKOUT”, you generally imagine a brutal blow to the jaw that sends a fighter unconscious instantly. While those are (almost) always amazing, when you watch a high-level fighter hit another high-level fighter in the stomach so hard that their body looks up at their brain and says, “Sorry bro, we can’t do this anymore. We’re done.” and the pain just overwhelms them to the point where all senses shut down and they’re left a wincing mess falling into the fetal position…that’s when you get a real glimpse at the brutality this sport has to offer. That’s when you realize that a mixed martial arts fight is the most high-stakes chess match in the world, and that it only takes a fraction of a second for weeks, months, and years worth of training to all mean nothing. One hesitation, one misread of your opponent, can result in your liver shutting down while the killer across from you pounces. This is the real shit. As real as it gets.

God damn, how can you not love the violence? I get hit with that, the only thing you’re hearing out of my for weeks are the sounds of a seal and “Please stop” every couple minutes.
