Chad Johnson Randomly Trolls the 2006 Chargers with a Generous Tip

For one little Tweet, there’s a lot to unpack here. To start with the obvious, according to my Bible (Google), the quote he cites is, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Which, while it obviously seems like Chad Johnson is virtue signaling his own generosity, might have more to it.

Just to look at this like Jules Winnfield breaking down Ezekiel 25:17, maybe Ochocinco isn’t the generous person here. Maybe that’s the server, 1213 Nelson. Maybe he refreshed Johnson’s drinks and so he himself will be refreshed with a generous tip. Or it could mean Ocho is generous man and Nelson is prosperous and it’s the world that’s evil and selfish. Or maybe he’s saying Smith & Wollensky is the tyranny of evil men? I don’t know. The Bible is confusing. But I’m trying, Ringo. I’m trying real hard.

I will say it’s a little random to be dropping his old yardage total against San Diego in the middle of a Miami steakhouse. Maybe it came up in the conversation? Or Nelson mentioned being a huge Chargers fan or something? If they exist? It could be that he sees his contemporaries like Randy Moss and Terrell Owens getting into Canton this year and figures 260 bucks is a relatively cheap way to remind everyone what kind of numbers he put up in his time? Who can say?

I’m just happy for the server he landed a 185 percent tip. And for Johnson who, no matter what his motives, went above and beyond with his generosity. Mostly I’m just happy for all involved he didn’t tip based on any of the numbers he put up for the Patriots in 2011. That would’ve been borderline stealing. Keep doing you, Ocho.
