The NFL Wants Players To Snitch Their Way Out Of PED Suspensions

(PFT) – “The NFL Management Council may, prior to the conclusion of a Player’s appeal, reduce the length of the suspension and corresponding bonus forfeiture by up to 50% when the Player has provided full and complete assistance (including hearing testimony if required) to the Management Council which results in the finding of an additional violation of the Policy by another Player, coach, trainer or other person subject to this Policy,” the policy states.

So PFT dropped this yesterday and people far and wide were missing the point here. Of course no levelheaded human being would rat out one of their teammates or coaches or trainers. That’s a great way to get cut and blackballed from the rest of the League and probably also bludgeoned with a tire iron REAL quick. And based on a lack of tire iron bludgeonings reported League-wide, I think it’s safe to assume no one has gone this route just yet.

Where a true galaxy brain mind comes into play is intentionally getting caught taking PEDs just to get in front of the NFL Management Council to snitch on a division rival. Nowhere in that clause that I read twice does it say you can only snitch on a teammate. True gamesmanship would come from someone intentionally failing a drug test in the middle of the season, appealing said suspension, mailing PEDs to a division rival’s best player, getting in front of the committee, ratting on said player using said planted evidence as proof, and winning the division. Now, it’s a play you can truly only use once, but if executed to perfection it could be the difference between another year mired in mediocrity and a Super Bowl.
