Amy Schumer Now Has A Podcast. Breaking News: It's Bad!

In case you wanted to listen to Amy Schumer steal some more jokes, she now has her own podcast! 3 Girls, 1 Keith was released this morning, and Spotify paid her a cool $1 million for exclusive streaming rights. If you didn’t set your alarms to be among the first to stream the show, don’t waste your time. I listened to the whole thing; she talks about not wearing a bra, and then, to prove how funny she can be without pandering to the vast majority of her audience that are fourth-wave feminists, she explained the difference between “loving” someone and being “in love” with someone. After that, Keith explained how he used to get broken up with when he was younger. Really groundbreaking stuff, I can totally see why she’s making $1 million for her efforts!

However, if you still think that you want to watch it, this is the promo that was dropped for the podcast.

They thought that was the best way to get listeners. Simply stunning.

Let’s look back at the success that she has had in the entertainment industry to prove that she deserves such a lucrative podcast deal:

2012: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (55% Rotten Tomatoes)

2012: Amy Schumer: Mostly Sex Stuff (6.2/10 IMDb)

2015: Trainwreck (86% Rotten Tomatoes)

2015: Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo (5.9/10 IMDb)

2017: Amy Schumer: The Leather Special (2.9/10 IMDb)

2017: Snatched (36% Rotten Tomatoes)

2018: I Feel Pretty (33% Rotten Tomatoes)

If you look at that track record, it is clear that she does not bring anything unique to the table. And I forgot to mention that her tv show was canceled because she was repeatedly caught stealing bits from other sketch comedy shows.

Only two of her last seven projects have received a passing grade from audience members. And yet, she keeps making insane amounts of money because she is one of the few female comics that is okay with being vulgar. This means talking about, well, mostly sex. And for some reason, movie producers are eating that stuff up. When she gets backlash, she blames it on men for not being progressive and slut-shaming. Obviously I am not a big Amy Schumer fan, but the problem with her comedy is not due to the fact that she is a vulgar comedian. Schumer’s problem is she tries to mask her lack of a funny bone by talking about her period or having sex on the first date.

PS: she also sexualized C3PO in a GQ shoot. At least she stays true to herself in all situations!
