Reminder: You're A Son Of A Bitch If You're Not Rooting For NHL Ref Garrett Rank At The US Open This Week

GOLF: JUL 28 PGA - RBC Canadian Open - Second Round

So this little golf tournament called the US Open gets going this week. Maybe you’ve heard of it before. Now you’ve got the usual list of suspects at the top when it comes to favorites to win this year’s US Open. Guys like DJ, Rory, Rickie, Justin Rose, Justin Thomas, Jason Day, Jordie Spieth. Hell, even Tiger is coming in here at 20-1. But I’m here today to remind you that you are a real bastard if you’re pulling for any of those guys at Shinnecock this week. We, as a human race, need to collectively join together and will NHL ref and amateur golfer Garrett Rank to glory from Thursday to Sunday. He’ll be getting a bit of an early start on Thursday with a 7:18am tee time. But come Sunday? Buddy is going to be gripping it and ripping it in prime time.

Now from what I’ve heard, Shinnecock is a pretty difficult course to play unless you have hundreds and hundreds of mulligans to use. And in order to have any sort of success on a tough course, you need to be tough. Both mentally and physically. You want to know what’s tough? Taking a stick to the face in the middle of an NHL game and getting your ass right back on the ice just a few minutes later after some quick repairs.

If Garrett Rank hits a few bad shots next weekend, he’ll shake them right off because he’s hockey tough like that. It’s all about the next shot, nothing you can do about the last one. If his back starts to stiffen up on him in the middle of a round? He’ll just play right through the pain and discomfort because he’s hockey tough like that. He won’t pull out of the tournament just because he’s got a little boo boo.

Garrett Rank is exactly what the sport of golf needs right now. Guys have been getting too soft lately. Garrett Rank isn’t going to be bothered by a few clowns in the gallery chirping at him after a shot. He gets ripped apart by players, coaches, and thousands of fans every single night he’s on the ice telling him that he fucking blows and that he’s blind. He’s used to that by now. So I think a lot of guys on the tour can learn a thing or two from Garrett Rank next week. And if you’re not rooting for Ranksy at Shinnecock, well then you can frig off. We have the chance to see a real life Happy Gilmore here, people. You’ve got to be a grade A asshole to not root for that.
