Camera Man Falls In Lake During Newscast, Ends Up With The Perfect Shot, Immediately Gets Mocked By His Coworkers

Source - Sometimes you get so into your work that you accidentally fall into a lake. It happens!  But if you’re a cameraman named Chris, you might just be skilled enough to recover and capture the whole incident for live television. That’s what happened during this Las Vegas broadcast.

Chris was capturing footage of his colleague reporting from a kayak, he appeared to accidentally fall into the lake.“Are you alright, Chris?” the reporter yelled. “Yeah, I’m good,” he said. Though the reporter claims “no electronics or cameras were injured in this live shot,” there was certainly a scary splash. But in an impressive plot twist Chris wound up capturing the perfect final shot.

I imagine for cinematographers holding a camera is like holding beer; no matter what happens you never drop it. Doesn’t matter if you’re catching a foul ball or fleeing a terrorist attack, it’s human nature to save the things that are important to you. So I get how the cameraman was able to save his equipment. It was impressive too- he stepped directly into the lake, then sniped the shot without missing a beat.

Got emmmm. What I don’t get is how he didn’t lose his mind in the process. Poor guy’s probably been up since the ass crack of dawn trying to hit his hourly cap and ended up blowing out both ACL’s on the last shot of the day. At least the reporter was nice about it, “Alright folks, we just had a little water fatality!” I still probably would’ve flipped her kayak though. The anchors, on the other hand, were brutal. Just cracking up right in his face, pretending to hold a camera all dry and comfy.

Laugh it up, guys. See if he doesn’t shoot that double chin that you’re so self conscious about. That said, it could’ve been much worse, he could’ve been sent to investigate the eye of a hurricane. Which seems to happen much more frequently than it should. Oh well, hopefully this guy’s close to retirement. That or he gets sent on some much less treacherous shoots.
