Nobody Is Looser For The Final Four Than Albany's Head Coach Scott Marr

Scott Marr was obviously pretty pumped to finally get his Danes to Championship Weekend for the first time in school history last week after Albany took down Denver in the quarterfinals. He’s been building this program since 2001. The only head coach Albany has ever known during their time as a Division I program. It’s absolutely insane that he’s been at Albany for so long. Obviously things really started to click at Albany during the Lyle Thompson era. But even with the most prolific point scorer in college lacrosse history, Albany was never able to get over that hump and into the Final Four. But this year Albany was ranked the #1 team in the nation for the first time in program history and now they’re playing on Memorial Day Weekend for the first time in program. history. Scotty Marr has been waiting 18 years for this moment and holy shit is my man living it up right now.

An absolutely electrifying look. The slick back. The wooden twig. That nice bronze glow to his skin that says, “yeah, I’ve been coaching deep into the spring”. You want to know which people don’t get tans? Guys who only coach from February to April. But when you’re coaching deep into May, you turn into a bronze beauty. And it doesn’t stop with the travel attire. Once Albany got on the field at Gillette Stadium today for their pre-game practice, that’s where real show began.

And that right there? That’s the reason why Scott Marr has been the head coach of the Albany Great Danes for 18 years. That’s why nobody in their right mind would fire this guy. Because I can’t imagine there’s anything like playing for this guy. He’s fun, he’s loose, he seems like he genuinely cares about every player he coaches. The kind of coach who players would legitimately run through a wall for, and not just say it in a figurative sense. This team has the biggest game in program history coming up tomorrow and their head coach is playing air guitar on his wood stick in the middle of practice. What a legend.
