About

Matt Murley, affectionately known as "Murls," is a retired professional ice hockey player born in Troy, New York. He showcased exceptional talent during his collegiate career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), earning him a spot in RPI's Hall of Fame in 2020. ​ Drafted 51st overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Murley made his NHL debut with the Penguins during the 2003–04 season. He later played for the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2007–08 season. Beyond the NHL, Murley had an extensive international career, playing in leagues across Europe and Asia, including stints in Sweden's SHL, Russia's KHL, and Germany's DEL, Switzerland's NLA. After retiring from professional play, Murley transitioned to broadcasting and analysis. He is currently a sports betting expert for Spittin' Chiclets, Barstool Sports' hockey podcast, and co-hosts the spin-off podcast Chiclets Game Notes alongside former teammate Colby Armstrong. His motto is: "Everybody Rides"
