Fall Out Boy And Missy Elliot Collaborated To Remake The Ghostbusters Song And...Yeah

As we know by now, nothing about the remake of Ghostbusters looks good. The commercials stink, the cast is iffy, and even Melissa McCarthy hated the trailer, which is the most downvoted trailer in YouTube history. So when you hear Fall Out Boy remade the theme, the first thought that came to your head was probably something like “WHY GOD WHY?”. However, in the interest of honesty, this remake of the iconic theme song…with Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot of all people colabbing on it…is a solid D+. I think that’s about the nicest thing I can say about it. The 1984 original version is iconic and will always stand on it’s own, but for a remake with the lowest of expectations, it could have been a lot worse. And I give it a grade of a D+. Maybe even a C- because Missy Elliot steals the show here. Hopefully this is the start of the comeback we need out of her.

I will say this though, it was REALLY ballsy of them to touch the song. So, so much bad publicity has been circling this movie for the last year, I thought they would try to win a few brownie points by keeping the theme the same. But they decided the whole movie was going to be remade, so I guess hat tip to them for not holding back.

As for the film itself, like the song it’ll likely be better than our expectations. But they’ve dug themselves such a deep, dark pit already that it will be very difficult to climb out of and win back over the general public.
