Ronaldo Deciding To Retire From Portugal A Month After He Threw A Hissy Fit For Getting Benched Is The Perfect Ending To His International Career

In case you forgot, about a month ago Ronaldo had perhaps the most Ronaldo moment. Portugal won a match, but he was benched. So instead of celebrating with his team, acting like a normal human being, he threw a hissy fit, quit the team, left the national team and reminded everyone how much of a whiny bitch he is.

And now this is how it ends:

It's the perfect ending for his Portugal career. Being a starter in the World Cup for no reason and being the weakest link of that Portugal team that felt like it underachieved. Then throwing a hissy fit because he was benched for a game while his team won. That's the Ronaldo experience. He's one of the all-time crybabies in sports and really the world. When something doesn't go his way he stomps around, pouts and blames everyone else but him.

Look, we know he's a good player - or at least he was. No one will doubt that he's good and he's elite at scoring penalties, but his career was always destined to end by being in a hissy fit with Portugal and quitting instead of being a mentor or helping lead the way. There's also nothing better that explains Messi vs Ronaldo then how their international careers ended. Messi had teammates crying, a whole country celebrating him. Ronaldo puts out a tweet and still gets mocked. Feels like another win for Messi in that rivalry.

So congrats on Ronaldo for retiring when in reality he quit. He didn't like the way things were going, maybe he realized the team is better off without him and have the youth come in. He did make Portugal a respectable soccer country and team, credit for that. We'll miss the Penaldo jokes because no one is watching him in Saudi Arabia.
