WHOA: 'The Batman Part II' Filming Will Be Finished With Steven Soderbergh Stepping In As Director While Matt Reeves Is Dealing With A Family Matter That's Rumored To Be Some Serious Health Issues

We had some surprising Hollywood news dropped outta the pale moonlight last night and I'm not quite sure how to feel about it. I think it's good? Or at least better than scrapping the movie entirely? Let's dive in with our batwings fully spread so you true believers can decided for yourself.

To quickly recap, a few weeks ago filming for Robert Pattinson's caped crusader sequel 'The Batman Part II' got put on hold due to director Matt Reeves needing to step away ASAP for unknown reasons. No concrete details have been leaked, but the rumor mill has been saying it is a "serious family health issue" but "not a Chadwick Boseman" situation, whatever the fuck that means.

Seems like the vibe is someone very close to Matt is horribly sick, but not he himself? Either way, now Steven Soderbergh of 'Ocean's Eleven' & 'Traffic' fame is stepping in to finish directing principle photography. HOWEVA, Matt will still be involved remotely during that to keep aesthetics strong and then plans to take back over during the post production process.

(SOURCE) - Soderbergh has been longtime admirer of Reeves work, and with Reeves unable to be on set, the Oscar-winning director offered to help with finishing principal photography..“I thought Matt Reeves’ work on The Batman was stunning; it was intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent. The goal here is to work with Matt and his team to generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what’s already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film.”

Deadline broke the news earlier this month that production would be paused while Reeves attended to a family matter. Prior to the pause, filming had been underway in London. The Batman Part II is set to bow on February 18, 2028; sources say it is too early to say whether the stoppage will have an effect on the release date.

Feels like an extremely messy way to do it, but it might also be the only way to pull it off? Certainly comforting to know nearly 69% of the filming is done. And pretty admirable to see Steven step up outta nowhere to support his fellow director. Definitely earned himself a tall glass of Fernet-Branca with that selfless effort.

Although that hasn't stopped The Internet from throwing out some wild theories of their own. Now riddle me this… Is WB once again repeating their horrid history the same way they threw Zach Sydner off 'Justice League'? Could James Gunn be secretly diluting Matt Reeves product so that HIS upcoming Batman movie can be received even better? Hmmmmm.

Not sure what to think there. Hopefully not the case. But unfortunately WB is the worst run studio in Hollywood today, so anything is possible I guess. Fingers crossed everything ends up okay with Matt Reeves family & ideally this movie too. Me & my fellow virgins don't have much to look forward to in this cold world. We fuckin' need this one man. Even if we have to wait till 2028 for it.

Lest we forget, Batman going against Scarlett Johansson in a snow covered Gotham are what dreams are made of! Let us pray this demented director combination doesn't make it a nightmare. Of course, T's & P's to the Reeves family for whatever they are dealing with. Some things are bigger than Batmobile chases.
