Ho Hum, Nikola Jokic Is Once Again Having One Of The Most Insane Seasons In The History Of Basketball

Every NBA season, there always seems to be a debate over MVP or who the current "Best Player In The World" is. Some will say SGA, some will say Giannis, some will say Luka (lol), there was a time you heard the name Joel Embiid etc. I get it, fans are passionate about their guy. That's sports.

But we're now reaching the point where that entire debate is looking dumber by the day. Why? Because Nikola Jokic exists. My apologies to any of those other players and their fans, but it's time the basketball world stops being weird when it comes to Jokic and just tells the truth.

We are witnessing not only the MVP and BITW, but we are also witnessing a generational talent that will most likely go down as one of the greatest to ever do it.

I think Chuck summed it up best

Again, sorry if this offends, but we are watching the most unstoppable force in basketball in Nikola Jokic. Not only does he lead the NBA with an absolutely insane 77.3% TS%, but he ALSO is pairing that with a 49.0% AST%.

To put this into perspective with another pretty damn good player/MVP in SGA, he has a 64% TS% and a 34% AST% through 13 games.

You can't stop Jokic from scoring, and when he decides he doesn't really feel like shooting, that's no problem because he's also the best passer on the planet. Seriously, what is the defensive solve for Jokic? He can score from all 3 levels, he makes reads that you don't even know exist in real time, so what the fuck are you supposed to do?

Unfortunately for Jokic, voter fatigue exists. It's the same shit LeBron dealt with for years when he was at the height of his powers and should have won MVP every season. This isn't to say other guys haven't had great years that would be MVP caliber seasons if Jokic didn't exist…..but he does. This is a player who has been top 2 in MVP every single season since 2020-21, winning 3. I think we can all be grown ups and admit that number should really be 5. If not for the Embiid pity MVP and the voter fatigue preventing back-to-back MVPs last year, that's exactly how many Jokic would have. I mean, what are we doing

What I've never really understood is why so many people try and bend themselves in all these different directions to try and make it seem like Jokic isn't as dominant and otherworldly as he is. You can use your eyes, you can use stats, you can use the context of his roster, it all tells you the same thing. Yet, every season it feels like there's this push to suggest that Jokic isn't actually this good? Grow up. Appreciate what you are seeing, because it's arguably something we've never seen before.

The crazy part of all of this? It's sustainable. This video game level production isn't just a hot streak or anything like that. This is just who Nikola Jokic is and has been since he took that leap in 2020-21. Perhaps one day we'll reach the point where everyone can just accept this, and there isn't some push to crown new MVPs in spite of what Jokic is doing on a nightly basis. Sometimes, players are just that good.
