Impressive Human Feat: A Livestreamer Named EmilyCC Has Officially Been Live 24/7 For 4 Straight Years
Listen, by now if you don't know even a little about livestreaming culture then you live under a rock. If you can click onto a Barstool Sports blog, then you probably have at least a little bit of internet knowledge. And if you ask any kid what they want to be when they grow up, the answer is no longer "my lord and savior LeBron James" or even a lawyer, doctor, or an astronaut. Instead, they're going to tell you they want to become a livestreamer like Kai Cenat or IShowSpeed.
Those are the top echelon of streamers that make more money annually than 99.9% of professional athletes. But then you look at every other average Joe sitting in his gaming room trying to make it big like them, and you realize that the market has probably become overly saturated. So what do you do when you want to make it big?
Stream 24/7 without turning the camera off for 4 straight years like this girl EmilyCC. Even doing that for a month seems somewhat impossible, let alone 48 straight months. I've got a lot of questions, like how do you go on dates, to the movies, to family holidays? I guess the simple answer is that you either don't, or you show up to every single one of those with a camera in people's face. And any technical problem that may occur like a power outage or your internet going out can probably be solved in the year 2025 anyway.
I think you've gotta put this up there with most impressive human feats like David Blaine holding his breath for over 17 minutes or even living in a box with just water to drink for 44 days. Or that high school kid who stayed up in 1965 for 11 straight days to set a record. And I get she's probably making a decent amount of money, but when you're that far in, when do you decide to call it quits? I feel like four years is probably enough to tell people that you're going to be taking a month or two off the streaming game before you return to a normal schedule. Especially since that record will likely never be beaten.
But as I write this, she's live to 400 people as she sleeps, some of which are playing a Words With Friends-esque game with the other people in chat. And in case you don't believe the number, just look at this chart (purple means live):
Impressive but concerning none the less. Someone get her a Guinness World Record. Or a nap. Go on EmilyCC!
