"If You Try This, We Will Be Your Worst Enemy. We Will Immediately Go After You With The FBI." - Dana White Addresses The Alleged Fight-Throwing Scandal In The UFC
Following this weekend's potential scandal involving alleged fight fixing in the Isaac Dulargian vs Yadier Del Valle bout, Dana White has finally given his first comments to the media - and this story just keeps getting crazier.
Dana confirmed Harry Mac's report that the UFC was informed of irregular betting activity surrounding the fight earlier that day, and said that they immediately hopped on a call with Dulargian and his lawyer to grill them on having any knowledge of why that happened/if anyone was up to any funny business. Dulargian allegedly swore up and down that he didn't know what the cause of the late bets, which led the UFC to proceed with the matchup, and then the fight went how it went and Dana called the FBI immediately.
It was obviously the right move given the scenario, but the visual of Dana White leaving the octagon-side area to call the FBI literally seconds after the fight is hilarious to me.
"Yes, hi, FBI? We've got an issue."
As he said, the UFC is now in full cooperation with the FBI and determined to get to the bottom of what's going on here. He even mentioned some of the fighters who I blogged about yesterday coming out of nowhere to reveal they've been offered money to throw fights; it sounds like they'll be hearing from the FBI soon as well!
I still can't get over how crazy this whole story is, and it's only gotten wilder over the course of this week. New headlines every day, new allegations thrown all over Twitter - there's truly never a dull moment in this sport. For more, check out THIS video.
