The Pain Never Ends. Joe Alt Is Having Season-Ending Ankle Surgery

This is about as Chargers as it gets.

Rashawn Slater ruptures his patellar tendon just days after signing the biggest OL contract in NFL history. So no more Left Tackle and, after an injury like that, he will likely never play LT again. Or, at the very least, never at the level he was again. So Joe Alt gets moved from right over to left tackle. Great. At least we have about as great a contingency as humanly possible. A few games in, LG Zion Johnson (who threw a defender into Slater's leg in the pre-season, causing his injury) throws a defender into Alt's leg, knocking him out for a few games. During that time, the line could not have possibly played worse. The IOL, which was already dogshit, became even worse with turbodogshit backup tackles in the rotation.

Alt, being the beast that he is, fights through it to return last week. Yesterday, RT Trey Pipkins throws a defender into his already injured leg, knocking him out for the season. This is just their luck. Things finally start to improve YEARS of terrible OL play and the only two players worth a damn are knocked out. So now Herbert, who is already getting absolutley fucking crushed all season long, is basically gonna getting a monumental beatdown every weekend guaranteed.

Any super bowl aspirations they had are gone. The only thing we can pray for now is that Herbert doesn't get Joe Burrowed.
