As Expected, Michael Jordan Is Absolutely Disgusted At The Idea Of Load Management

Coming off his NBA on NBC debut, I was very interested in how the next MJ interview/segment would go. I enjoyed his debut, loved the FT story and things got even better when the next day the actual video of that story came out. The fact that it wasn't bullshit was fantastic, and in some ways built up a little bit of equity as we headed into the next episode. Heading into this whole thing we had no idea what it would actually be, and if it's going to end up being a super long interview cut up into various segments throughout the season, well then those segments better kick ass. So far, they were 1 for 1.

Tonight? A topic that I'd certainly like to hear Michael Jordan weigh in on. Load management

Now wait a goddamn minute. You mean to tell me one of the fiercest competitors in the history of sports, a player with this type of game log throughout his career

is disgusted by the idea of load management?

And you know what? The way he explained his mentality and how he viewed load management was perfect. You hear all the time from the players who never miss games about how they do it because they know someone spent their hard earned money to go watch them play. It's their responsibility to give them a show every single night.

MJ?

MJ wants to play every night so he can shut that fan up. His words, not mine. What a moment that was. That's exactly how I would have expected the brain of Michael Jordan to be wired, and even though I knew that was going to be his answer, hearing him actually say it is why this segment is so cool.

Breaking down Game 5 vs UTA? Sign me the hell up. We're only talking about one of the most iconic moments in league history, no big deal or anything. I also loved how he basically called out anyone who somehow can't find the time in the day to put in the work to be great. It was like his brain couldn't comprehend how that might be possible, which was also cool to see.

So while it wasn't exactly surprising that MJ despises load management, he still made it entertaining which at the end of the day is still all that matters. Eventually, as we get further into this series I'd like to see some topics/questions where I don't already know how MJ is going to respond. That's really what tonight was. When they first teased this episode and how "MJ was going to weigh in on load management", who in their right mind expected anything other than what we got? What did you expect, MJ to come out and say how great load management is and how it's smart and good for the league? Grow up Peter Pan, Count Chocula. No shit he was going to despise it. It was still cool to hear him talk about because again, it's Michael Jordan, but it wasn't exactly groundbreaking news.
