AJ Brown Has Taken His Time Away From The Active Roster To Delete A Bunch Of Nice Tweets He Previously Sent About Jalen Hurts
Mitchell Leff. Getty Images. The AJ Brown saga in Philadelphia has been a gosh darn silly straw with how many twists and turns it has taken over the last few weeks. Every day we wake up to a new report from Dianna Russini that says that AJ Brown is as good as gone in Philadelphia. Then we immediately get a report that says that is wrong, and that AJ Brown isn't going anywhere. Then Sunday rolls around, he has 3 catches for 26 yards, he tweets out a bunch of cryptic song lyrics, and it starts the entire process over again.
Do I think AJ Brown will be traded before the deadline? No I do not. Do I think that AJ Brown is ecstatic to be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles? No I do not. Do I think that a laser-focused Jalen Hurts is getting real sick and tired of dealing with AJ Brown being a distraction in the locker room? Yes I do. And I'm sure at some point over the past couple of weeks, Jalen has made it abundantly clear to AJ Brown that he's not going to deal with that shit anymore, because all he cares about is winning. All the other nonsense is just outside noise that he can't bother to entertain.
And if I had to guess, that has probably rubbed AJ Brown the wrong way. He's a sensitive soul, and I'm sure he feels slighted that his former bestie can't even take the time to talk about their feelings together. So instead of trying to have a meaningful conversation with Jalen about how to mend this friendship, AJ Brown has just resorted to deleting every nice thing he's ever said about his quarterback on Twitter.
The timing here couldn't be any better. AJ Brown isn't playing today due to a hamstring injury. He hasn't practice at all over the last few days. So obviously he's had a bunch of free time on his hands. How does he fill the void with all this newfound free time? By scrubbing through his Twitter account for every mention of Jalen, and deleting it. Going all the way back to a 2015 tweet to Jalen Davis. Advance search "Jalen", and delete everything. What a move. It makes you wonder if wide receivers are born like this, or if they act like this because they are wide receivers. A real "chicken or the egg" type of scenario here.
At the end of the day, having AJ Brown on this roster is obviously way better than not having AJ Brown on this roster. There's not a single team in football right now who would prefer to not have AJ Brown, as opposed to having him. But eventually, the juice to squeeze ratio starts to shrink. At some point, you have to make a decision if it's worth the constant weekly headache. So far, I'd still say yes. But the Eagles need Jalen Hurts way more than they need AJ Brown. I hate to say a player of that caliber is "expendable", but it's not like the Eagles would be completely lost without him. Heck, most of the games so far this season have essentially been without AJ Brown in the mix anyway.
