Dave (Sort Of) Asked Workers To Leave His House And I Respect The Move
Hear me out. I know I am now the voice of the blue collar worker given the new day in the life series, Bosco Industries, so I feel it's in my best interest to weigh in here.
It's in my natural interest to defend these blue collar workers grinding each day as the backbone of this country. Hardworking people, characters, long hours, hard labor, painful etc etc. Cannot say enough about these kind of people. Small businesses are terrific, and always have to fight for their lives in this country at times. So terrific people, can't say it enough.
Now, with all that said I think you need to consider all the elements here. Let me say, I rarely get work done at my house, but there is NOTHING worse than people being around or in your house. I once had a to tell a landlord about a problem with a leak in a closet. She was a complete pain in the ass from day 1, just not my kind of person. Always asked annoying questions, always made things an issue for example one night a light switch was progressively and progressively getting loose and then it finally got tripped where it wouldn't work, gets worse - the switch was so weirdly wired that it meant half the apartment didn't have lights, which was a problem.
I called her and then I had to find an electrician because she's useless at 7pm at night on a Friday, and when I told her the cost and that he was on the way she asked "is he licsensed" just all time nonsense question. Hated her.
Anyway back to the closet. She said workers were coming on a certain day and she wanted to go in with them to see things etc. The day they showed up I opened the door and said "ok see you later" she was very confused and said 'where you going", I said "if they are in the house I'm gone I don't want to be around with work going on" and walked off. There is NOTHING worse than people being in your house doing work. Now by this I do realize that you want the work done, and they are providing great service, and I don't mean they take too long, or anything negative it's just the element that when you are off for the day, or working from home or want to relax and you have people in your house you are never fully at ease. I also think we're entitled to that right. When I worked jobs where I had random days off in the middle of the week, I think I've earned the right to watch The Hills reruns in my underwear on my couch with a Junkless granola bar and a comfy blanket and be able to giggle at Kelly Cutrone or call Spencer a skell. I don't need Joey or Vinny from the cable company or Rudy (great guy) installing my blinds to give me a side eye. They are great guys but I just rather be alone.
So Dave wanting to enjoy his million dollar homes and have podcasts with lunatics, tan and listen to Jimmy Buffet is his right. And the workers didn't do anything wrong. There was nothing for them to do while the glue dried. They weren't laying on the couch or swimming in the pool etc. They quietly enjoyed the view, which is a pain for the homeowner. Sucky situation for everyone. In a perfect world, Dave will start scheduling his work to be done on travel days.
