Relax Everyone, Lane Kiffin Is Not Going To Florida

It is an annual tradition at this point. Every time a high profile college football job opens Lane Kiffin's name is hotter than a pistol as a potential hire.

Florida FINALLY fired the embattled Billy Napier on Sunday after 3.5 mediocre seasons and Lane to Florida rumors have taken the internet by storm.

And why woud they not be? Lane has led Ole Miss to a 43-12 regular season record since 2021 and the Rebels are going through their best stretch as a program since Johnny Vaught in the 1960s.

Lane also has a history of jumping around from job to job but the times they are a changin'…..

Kiffin is now in his 6th season in Oxford which is more than anyone could have imagined when he was hired before the 2020 season. His daughter Landry is a junior at Ole Miss and his son Knox is a high school sophomore QB at Oxford High.

(Lane almost left for Auburn in 2022 but Landry read him the riot act because she wanted to attend Ole Miss convincing him to stay.)

His family is entrenched in Oxford. He makes over 10 million dollars a year. Ole Miss has been able to raise the NIL $$$ to compete for the playoffs yearly and the fan support is there. He also does not have to do a lot of the speaking engagements and media that are required of most coaches at high profile schools.

I am not naive. Nothing lasts forever and the Rebels are already on borrowed time with Lane. Florida is a helluva job with 3 national titles and a ton of history. Kiffin also admires Steve Spurrier and even rocks the visor on the sideline like the ol' ball coach.

But I am done freaking out when this situation comes up. This is the price of success in big time college football. When you win A LOT of games at a school that has not always done so, this is just part of the deal.

If his daughter Landry was graduating this year, there would be more concern but he is not leaving as long as she is a student at Ole Miss.
