Joe Mazzulla And His Staff Went Full Belt To Ass While Playing In A Scrimmage Against The Local Celtics Media

In what has become an annual tradition, today was the local Celtics Media game where usually the beat reporters/media who attend Celtics practice play a scrimmage against one another after things end. That was of course, until Psycho Joe Mazzulla dropped this little nugget to end his media session
Admittedly, this would terrify me. I've seen the Joe Mazzulla/assistant coaches pre-game shootaround. Remember this?
So I can only imagine what it felt like to go from thinking you were going to get some run with your coworkers to now being challenged to face off against Joe Mazzulla and his staff. That group includes former Celtics point guard Phil Pressey, Sam Cassell, Tony Dobbins, Amile Jefferson (Duke), Matt Reynolds etc. Certainly a different level of talent.
As you can probably expect in a situation like this, Joe Mazzulla & Co went full belt to ass like you read about
What I'm certainly not going to do is shit all over the media side, mostly because it's not exactly like I was there, so what the fuck do I know about what that battle was like? Plus, those are all my internet pals so on some level I felt a little bad that they got the belt like that.
What I will focus on is the fact that it is the least surprising thing of all time that Joe Mazzulla clearly treated this scrimmage as if it were Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Look at him! This is what makes Joe who he is and why the Celts are who they are. Things start at the top, and if Joe is going to be asking his players this season to cause chaos and play hard as shit at all times, well you better believe he's going to do the same when his number is called. This is a coach who leads by example. The fact that Joe knows no other way to be than going 1000% at all times is largely why he's truly 1 of 1. It doesn't matter what it is, you are getting the full Psycho Joe experience at all times.
Plus, given what just went on with Joe and the media the other night after the Celts preseason win against the Cavs
it leads me to believe that moment was partially the driving force behind changing things up and having the media play the coaches today. What, you thought the Thunder Dome was just on the mic? No chance. Not with Psycho Joe.
What I'm now looking forward to is how Joe uses something like this the next time a media member asks him a question he clearly doesn't like (like that one above). We know he doesn't forget anything, ever, and it wouldn't shock me at all if he used this scrimmage as ammo for the rest of the year to pull out when needed.
