Chicago Marathon Sunday is FINALLY Here!!!
The looming bear on the 2025 calendar has been Sunday October 12th for over 7 months. And now it is finally here!
I started 2025 weighing 258 pounds on January 2nd and barely could run 2 miles in the Planet Fitness gym in the Barstool Chicago Office.
Nine months later, I weigh around 210 and am firing at the Chicago Marathon!!!
We all have done the New Year's Resolution deal but for once life I actually stuck to it. The original plan was to train for a 1/2 Marathon as my goal.
But that all changed in March when I ran a 1/2 marathon on Mook Can't Sleep to raise $$$ for my co-worker Ben DiGuilio's sister's cancer battle. (I was around 245 at the time).
The next day I decided to sign up for the Chicago Marathon. This is a once in a lifetime deal. I am only going to run one of these.
And it can be done.....
The Lord is looking out for the Marathon runners with a high of 73 and low of 55 Sunday and no rain. I start at 7:30am on the flat course and my goal is to beat White Sox Dave's 5 hours 25 minutes because I will never hear the end of it if I don't.
I am fundraising for our partners at PAWS Chicago who do the Lord's Work saving the lives of rescue animals to find them homes. The support has been overwhelming and I have already raised my $10,000 goal!
But why stop now?!?!? Let's put up a big #!
Please donate here to support.... even $5 helps because there is strength in numbers!
I am not gonna sugar coat it. The 26.2 miles is kind of scary. My longest training run was 20 miles on Barstool After Dark a few weeks ago but thought there were still 2-3 miles in me.
One of my best friends from Ole Miss will be running with me and posting social clips on Sunday morning too which will help a ton.
The only concern going in is my right lower back gets stiff on longer runs some. I will have a Theragun planted at some point on the route in case it flares up.
PAWS Chicago has a spot set up on Mile 23 if anyone wants to come out to support. I damn sure will need it at that point.
I want to also wish good luck to everyone from the Chicago office running it. Mackenzie Locano, Kevin Zuppe, Kody Ferdinand, Tyler Spade & Sonye are all doing it too.
Time to do the damn thing!
