The National Media Is Finally Realizing That Julian Sayin Is The Clear Front Runner To Win The Heisman Trophy
I'll be honest with you guys, I haven't slept in days. I realized earlier this week that while Ohio State has two clear and obvious choices that belong in New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony, the fact of the matter is that splitting votes will ultimately cost them both. And with that, I took it upon myself to decide upon whether I wanted to rally the country around voting for Jeremiah Smith or Julian Sayin.
The problem is easy to see: Jeremiah Smith is the best player in the entire country, hands down. But every other coach and team knows this, too. So that's why we have times where up to 5 defenders are focused on him.
I just think it might be hard for Jeremiah to put up the numbers needed for a receiver (it's a QB award unfortunately) when he's getting defending like this. But the positive there for the team is that when they take 5 of the 11 defenders to guard one guy, the other recievers and tight ends run wide open down the field. And THAT is where Julian Sayin comes into play. He's the most accurate passer in college football history. That's not subjective, that's objective. And he continues to lay the ball in the bread basket of his other WRs like Carnell Tate and his tight ends, leading to easy touchdowns.
So who do I go with? Best player in the country or player that benefits from the best player in the country being guarded too closely?
It was a tough decision, but here's what I came up with:
So there you have it, I'm endorsing Julian Sayin to win the Heisman. And it appears the National Media is already following suit:
He's the clear frontrunner. Best QB on the best team in America. And I pray to God that Illinois tries to (still won't be able to) take JJ out of the game tomorrow by triple teaming him….because Julian might throw for 5 touchdowns. Let him spin, Coach!
