"Are You on Your Phone Texting as I'm Giving My All?" – Logic (Rapper) Stopped His Concert Mid-Song to Shame a Fan in The Front Row For Texting

Respectfully, Logic... the tweet poses a fair question. Who do you think you are? What gives you the right? I know Logic is a respected rapper and all. I'm sure there were a Logic song or two that made my playlist back in the day. I haven't heard much from him lately, but every once in a while I'll see him on a greatest rappers list made by some music hipster who says, "Logic's technical proficiency and word play demonstrates that he is head and shoulders above yada yada yada."

But people don't care nearly as much about "good lyrics" as they do about a catchy beat and one or two memorable lines that can be made into memes. Just look any current Top 10 Songs list.

I'm sure Logic still has a loyal fan base. I'm sure he still puts on a fine show. But if I'm looking to splurge on front row tickets to a rap concert, one thing I am unequivocally NOT looking for is that the performing rapper transforms into my high school history teacher and lectures me for being on my phone. That's insanity. It's a fucking rap concert. A rap concert Is the last place in the world where I'd think rules would be enforced upon me. I know you're supposed to be jumping around, going crazy, sweating profusely from drugs, etc. But in general, when you attend a rap concert, no matter which end of the spectrum you fall on, you never expect to be scolded for your behavior. Especially by the rapper himself.

Logic must be feeling like he "fell off". Or that his crowds aren't as rambunctious as they used to be. You don't stop a concert mid-song to call out a single person texting if you're secure about your performance. In his defense, I'm sure he sees these Travis Scott shows where the crowds are so rowdy that the people in the front row are literally fearing for their lives. Then Logic looks out into his audience to see a man texting his wife, "Hi babe! We're having so much fun! Promise I won't drink too much!"

I'd imagine Logic would prefer his fans aren't put in grave danger. But a bit of fear that things could get out of hand might be a nice little ego boost. I bet Logic wouldn't hate it if that front row texter felt a little more uncomfortable with his surroundings.

Unfortunately for Logic, this is all a Logic problem. If you don't want your front row audience members to be thinking about what's happening back home in the middle of your show, you gotta give them a better show. And crashing out on stage over someone not paying attention is only going to make your concert feel more like a classroom. If you're going to crash out, crash out like a rapper. If you really feel the need to address the texter, call him up on stage and punch him in the mouth. Rip the phone from his hands and smash it on the ground. Get fucking livid, destroy some sound equipment, then wrap the microphone cord around his throat and swing him around your head like a lasso. Now THAT is how you put on a rap concert.
