Even Umpires Cant Escape Injuries! Watch The 2nd Base Umpire In Philly Blow Out A Hamstring Making An Out Call

Sports are being ruined by injuries all over, no one can escape them. Joe Burrow, Malik Nabers, Gerrit Cole earlier this year, it's just been brutal. Well not umpires aren't even safe from getting hurt. 2nd base umpire Mark Wegner came in hot to make this out call on Teoscar Hernandez and ends up blowing out his hamstring. Plants that left leg and BOOM. Makes the out call and immediately grabs that hammy. He stayed in the game but you know this is going to bother him for sometime. Tough time of year to do that too for the crew chief. World Series in like 2 weeks and he's now maybe looking at an IL stint.

He knew right away something wasn't right. You hate to see guys get hurt, something must be done about all these injuries! You have to wonder if he's trying to milk a little sympathy, we know ABS is coming into play next year, no shot we see a robot pop a hammy so he's just trying to show that these umpires are still humans. But this is what you have to do in the playoffs, you battle through the little injuries and finish the job. Credit to Wegner for staying in there, making the call and gettin back to work. Maybe this is his sign to stretch a little more in the middle of the 7th? But this is what happens when you get old, you hurt yourself sneezing, or bending down, or making a call at 2nd base. We've all been there Mark, heal up brother. You know that's a painful thing to work through, luckily he has an off-day before flying to LA. Have to wonder how this will change his out call going deep into the playoffs. Prayers up, never want to see someone hurt.
