A Carolina Panthers Podcast Is Shutting Down Because the Hosts Say They Can't Justify Spending Time Away From Their Families With How Badly the Team Sucks
Sometimes when teams are exceptionally bad, it's funny — the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets come to mind. For others, their incompetence simply leads you to forget they exist — the Chicago White Sox, Charlotte Hornets, etc. But thanks to a couple of fans-turned-podcasters, the Carolina Panthers' futility may be one of the first that has ever made me feel sad.
I have been where these guys are. There is nothing worse than your team sucking and you having to get behind a microphone to talk about it extensively. And if you're only doing it as a side gig that's taking hours away from being with your family on a weekend, then I don't blame these guys one bit for hanging out with their wives and children instead of talking about Bryce Young getting his shit pushed in every Sunday. Why would anyone with a brain choose to do that?
A good owner and front office would bring these guys into the facility one day to at least let them see everyone in the building working and show them the ways they are planning on making the team better both immediately and long-term. But somehow I don't think anything like that is going to happen, which is part of the problem that led to their decision in the first place.
I hope the Panthers eventually turn it around for these guys. If it's any consolation, they will absolutely beat the snot out of the Falcons when they play again in November.
