Are Your 20's The Best Years of Your Life?

Everybody loves to say, “Enjoy your 20’s, they’re the best years of your life.” Yeah? Are they? Because if this is the peak, then I’ve got some serious questions for whoever sold me that dream.

Don’t get me wrong, your 20’s can be awesome. You’ve got freedom, you’re young enough to do dumb stuff and recover the next day, and nobody really expects you to have life completely figured out. But at the same time, your 20’s are absolute chaos. You’re broke half the time, you’re making horrible decisions on weekends, and every family gathering someone asks you what you’re doing with your life like you’re supposed to have a five year plan locked and loaded.

I feel like your 20’s are less “the best years” and more “the training camp years.” It’s the time you screw up, learn the hard way, and hopefully build something that makes your 30’s actually enjoyable. Like, yeah, the stories are great, wild nights, random trips, questionable hookups, but are these really supposed to be the glory days?

Because if you tell me right now that it doesn’t get better than stressing over rent while eating Chipotle for the fourth night in a row, I might just tap out early.

So maybe your 20’s aren’t the “best years” of your life. Maybe they’re just the funniest, craziest, most unpredictable ones. And honestly, I’ll take that, because at least they make for good content.
