Absolute Legend: The Fella Who Caught Cal Raleigh's 60th Home Run Ball Gave It To A Kid And Let Him Take It To The Mariners For Negotiation

Let me start off by saying that this guy absolutely rules. He took a moment that every baseball fan dreams about and immediately made it a lifelong moment for a kid. I'd like to say that in that position I'd probably do the same thing, but I damn well know I wouldn't. We're talking a HISTORIC 60th home run ball, joining Babe Ruth, Roger Maris, and that guy in the Bronx as the only players in AL history to do so. He should indisputably be the MVP but the books only have him as a little bit of a favorite at this point, so we'll see what happens.

Anyway, back to the home run guy. I don't know if he's seen the Philly Karen video, but if you're in this position, you've gotta make a snap decision on what to do. He caught it without incident, but God forbid someone claims it's theirs and you find yourself in the middle of a viral video with your whole life publicized online. Not this guy. I don't know the market on a ball like that, but it's definitely worth more than some applause from the crowd and a tip of the cap moment, so I have nothing but the upmost respect for a guy like that.

There's of course the argument he didn't realize the significance considering people were yelling "DON'T GIVE UP THAT BALL" at him, but look, with a joyous smile like this fella, you can tell his heart was all in it:

The Mariners won the AL West for the first time since 2001 and if they have any brains in that organization, you get this guy at every home playoff game and make a run. How can you not be romantic about baseball?
