What A Night In Seattle As Cal Raleigh Blasts His 59th And 60th Homers Of The Season While The Mariners Win Up Their First Division Title Since 2001

What a night in Seattle! History made all around the diamond for the Mariners as Cal Raleigh puts the stamp on his MVP award and gets to the 60 home run mark as a full time catcher, incredible. He's been chasing 60 all season long and I don't know if anyone really thought it would happen. We thought he would slow down a bit as the season went along and that did end up happening, but the home runs just kept coming. It seems like the last 2-3 weeks he's hitting one every night and passing some milestone that Griffey set. Crazy to think a catcher now has gotten to 60 homers, and there's still a chance he gets to Judge's AL record of 62. 3 homers isn't out of the question in a 3 game set vs the Dodgers and that staff, we could be seeing another record drop this weekend.

His 59th was absolutely destroyed. Like maybe the most destroyed ball I've ever seen. I mean look where that thing lands. WAAYYYYYYYY up there in right. You don't expect to get a ball when you're up there, but I guess with Cal Raleigh anything is possible. Crushed, man did he get all of that one.

60 wasn't a moonshot like 59 was but it got the job done. Golfed it right outta here into the sea of Mariners fans going crazy. How about the "MVP" chants going off right as he hits it too, so damn cool. Good for them, good for Raleigh, good for the Mariners. It's been a long time since they had a team like this, what a wild year for them. Absolute pandemonium in Seattle as Raleigh rounds the bases, I love him looking around at the ballpark as he rounds first and takes it all in. Great moment for Cal and you could tell how much the fans love him and what he's done this year. He's slowly becoming an all-time Mariner right before our eyes. He's the MVP this year, that's how it's going to go. A full time catcher with 60 bombs while playing gold glove defense on a division winning team? Yeah, that's your MVP.

Great video from the section where #60 went too, apparently the guy who caught the ball gave it to a kid and his dad? Talk about a class act. Hope he was compensated by the Mariners with something too! Awesome story if that is true.

That wasn't the only historical event that happened for the Mariners and their fans last night, for the first time since 2001 the Mariners have won the west. They finally slayed the dragon that is the choking Astros and sit atop the west. It's been a grind for them this whole season, back and forth with Houston, going all in at the deadline certainly paid off. Their pitching has been incredibly good, their offense led by Cal, Randy Arozarena, the slow starting Julio Rodriguez, and old friend Eugenio Suarez did just enough to push Seattle over the finish line and get them to October. It's been an incredibly long wait for this for their fans so you have to feel good for them. This is a super fun team with some incredible players, they've got a real chance to make a run to the World Series. With that pitching staff anything is possible, they've got what it takes. Think about this, the last time the Mariners won the division, Ichiro was a rookie. He just went into Cooperstown this summer.

Arguably one of the best nights in Mariners franchise history, I don't know what would top it. 60 piece and the division title? Yeah, that's the top of the mountain for Seattle so far. Incredible run for them this year, hope they can keep it up. A deep playoff run in that ballpark would be a scene. Great night for the city and franchise, hope they can keep it going.
