After Being 15.5 Games Back On July 8th, And 9.5 Games Back On September 10th, The Cleveland Guardians Now Stand Alone Atop The AL Central

Are you kidding me???? We had a 0.0% chance to win the American League Central on August 25th. I'm not sure how it's possible, but the Guardians now sit atop the division stands AND hold the tiebreaker with just 4 games to play. I want to be very clear: there's still work to do. We can't celebrate yet, as a loss tomorrow against Detroit puts us right back into a dog fight with the Tigers on the final week of the season, but holy shit what a run this has been. Am I a prisoner of the moment or is this the most fun I've had watching a sports team in my entire life? Cross all of the Browns seasons of the list immediately. The Cavs 2016 run was special....but we also had LeBron and I knew we were good. I was 9 years old in 2002 for Ohio State's improbable title, and I thought we were the best team in the country in '14 and '24. So this is the one time where, sitting 15.5 games back near the All-Star break and down two pitchers for gambling against themselves, I thought the team might actually be dead. But then our bats started becoming more timely, the Tigers quit winning, and as of late, our starting pitchers did their best Lee Corso impersonation and said, "Not so fast!"

Am I reading this correctly that that's now 19 straight starts for our pitchers that have given up 2 runs or less? Take a fucking bow, Carl Willis. And tonight, it was Tanner Bibee's turn: 

And he didn't even have his best stuff! If you watched the game, he had to BATTLE (against the Tigers and the umpires) for everything he got tonight. And what he ended up with was 6 innings of 1 run baseball. Pair that with the Mayor of Detroit, Mr. Jose Ramirez himself (and of course the great George Valera), and that's all we needed. 

Holy shit, is this team actually going to do this? Are we heading to the playoffs?! Are we going to host playoff baseball in Cleveland!!??!?!?
