'He Wasn't Telling Me To Screw Off' - It Took Two Games For Liam Coen And Trevor Lawrence To Clarify They Are Just Competitors And Don't Hate Each Other
This went viral yesterday with most people losing their minds because, well, football. Also I assume the people who are losing their minds about this never played a competitive level of sports. It's not the first time a quarterback and coach got into a bit of a fit, if you even want to call it that. Liam Coen telling Trevor Lawrence to hit guys in the chest with passes, him saying he's got it and actually did it. Not Trevor Lawrence's fault the next pass was dropped by Brian Thomas, which is a whole different thing.
Seriously, what the hell is going on with Brian Thomas? Coen said he's hurt:
While tape says this
Not great either way. But this isn't about Brian Thomas Jr., who was laughably compared to Malik Nabers after their rookie season. This is about Trevor Lawrence and Liam Coen (may or may not be Pat) not hating each other.
Yeah, that's all normal. I don't know how we got to the point where every thing is analyzed that it's a bad thing. Do we not remember how basically every athlete/coach relationship can be? Like I said, this is far from the first time a guy has gotten heated with a coach and vice versa and I'm not even hinting at a Sprewell situation here.
But it took 2 games for this to happen. People are already throwing the b word around Trevor Lawrence since it's year 5 and he hasn't been this savior that everyone thought. You got Coen coming in who ticked off Steven Cheah by leaving the Bucs in hilarious fashion and a guy who is an offensive savant. As much as I hated his second term with Kentucky, he was fucking awesome the first time around as OC and comes from the McVay tree.
Pretty sure the only way to really solve this is both guys put their head into the Jags statue outside the stadium and say Duval.
