'We Spend To Win' - Dan Lanning And Mike Gundy Are Prepping For Their Game By Arguing About How Much Money Oregon Pays Its Football Players

We live in a world where you can't be getting into an argument over how much NIL money a program has. It was never going to be fair, it was never fair before NIL was above the table. You for sure can't do this if you're Mike Gundy and have Oklahoma State money out there. Also, no shit that Oregon pays a ton of NIL money out, they have Phil Knight to help them. 

What I do admire here is the backhanded compliments to set up the insults by both coaches. It's an old school press conference pissing match where no one is saying anything outrageous while also throwing in 'good football team' there. It's the sort of thing we would hear back in the day and good to know that Mike Gundy hasn't lost a step in front of a mic. But, I gotta give the point to Dan Lanning for bringing up Oklahoma State playing UT-Martin and the NIL difference there. That's the sort of response that gets the point across better than anything else. Not to mention, it's pretty dumb to say Oregon can only play teams who spend like them. There ain't many, you have a few SEC schools, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas Tech and that might be it.

Let me be clear here though that while I think it's dumb for Mike Gundy to complain about Oregon's NIL money, I appreciate the fact he'll say whatever is on his mind. That, and, well, showing his nipples

Pretty clear that NIL will be brought up a ton, especially when it comes to someone like Oregon. Good to have a little animosity going into Saturday.
