You couldn't script a worse way to start the season for Oregon. After the longest off-season in sports, your team's year begins with the mascot's head being separated from his body. Think of the horror for the children.

If there's any silver ling for this guy, it's that he doesn't work at Disney World. He would have disappeared under mysterious circumstances and never been heard from again.

The Ducks seem to have not let this omen affect them on the field, though. Maybe it will end up being a great start to the championship DVD.
