Rumors of Arch Manning Being Ass Are Swirling After Texas Scores 7 Points in Loss to Ohio State

For what was one of the most hyped debuts — not technically, but in earnest — in recent college football memory, Arch manning and Texas went to Columbus and laid a substantially sized egg. The Longhorns scored just one time in a 14-7 loss and to say Manning was uninspiring would be an understatement.

Arch finished 17-30 for 170 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Manning did make a nice throw late in the fourth quarter to finally get Texas on the board but when the Horns got the ball back with a chance to tie or win the game, he missed two wide open throws that eventually led to a turnover on downs. His performance probably wasn't as bad as some people are going to make it out to be, but it certainly wasn't good and Texas only scored seven points. You can't really defend it.

This loss obviously doesn't necessarily have dire implications for Texas or anything, but the Horns have three cupcakes in a row before they open SEC play at Florida. So the next month is going to be talk about how bad Arch looked against OSU without any real chance to prove himself until Texas has another tough game on the road. It's not going to be sunshine and rainbows in Austin.

Some of the expectations placed on this kid may have been a bit unfair, but he certainly didn't look like a Heisman favorite.
