Southwest Airlines Honoring Lee Corso Before His Last Flight On The Gameday Staff Is A Beautiful Gesture, But It Begs The Question: Why Did They Let Him Fly Southwest After Nearly 40 Years On The Network?

Let's first remind everyone that THE PREMIERE COLLEGE FOOTBALL SHOWS IN AMERICA ...  are The Barstool College Football Show and Big Noon Kickoff.

but one has to acknowledge that Lee Corso has been a fixture on TV for what feels like 1000 years. Funny gimmicks, knowledgable insight (at times), quick wit, and the famous headgear pick. Fox is even recognizing the final donning during it's broadcast because that's what the classiest and best network in the business does.

Likable guy … showman … and a farewell show that is well deserved after bringing people entertainment for so long. Also very nice of Southwest to honor him. Well done. But when watching this you can't help but notice it's a commercial flight. Reminder the man is 90 years old. Looks great for it too so kudos Lee, but 90 is 90 folks! "The Mothership" as Dan Patrick used to call it or "Barstool JR" as it's now being called is making a 90 year old man fly commercial for his last flight? I am glad I'm not the only one who noticed and people aren't thrilled.

It appears at least to one commenter who did some homework that Corso prefers traveling commercial …

So Corso very well may have been "I want to do it the way I always do it" but at some point if you are the network you gotta get in that stubborn mode like two people fighting over who pays the check and say "absolutely not" when it comes to him flying this last time with a bunch of families risking life and death in a stampede only seen in the Lion King, trying to get a window or an aisle. They should have said "Coach with all due respect …get in the jet or we're cancelling the show." Just awful optics, and insane that they didn't see something like this coming. If it wasn't this video, someone on the flight would be a sports fan who snapped a picture that went viral. Dumb move. Get the jet and honor the man the way he should be honored.

Anyway, Big Noon Kickoff is going to be must watch tv tomorrow.
