Exclusive: The Legendary Ernie Adams is Entering the Podcast Arena, and the Medium Will Never Be the Same

This is proof that some times wishes do come true. Or perhaps it means that we really are living in the Matrix, where you say a thing and it becomes your reality. Because earlier this week a friend sent me this:

... and added that "This is amazing. This guy could be on once a month and never run out of stories."

My reply was that Ernie Adams should have his own podcast. Co-hosted by a polished, professional broadcaster type who can get him to tell these stories and just get out of his way.

I say it in a text, and the universe provides;

BOSTON – Aug. 28, 2025 – CBS Boston announces the launch of its new weekly football show, Burton / Ernie Talk Football with Fauria, premiering Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 9 p.m. ET. Hosted by WBZ Sports Director, Steve Burton, the new weekly show brings together two legendary Patriots - Christian Fauria, former NFL tight end and two-time NFL Super Bowl champion, and Ernie Adams, former football researcher for the New England Patriots.

“‘Burton / Ernie Talk Football with Fauria’ is a game-changer for football fans and our viewers,” said Johnny Green, regional president and general manager of CBS Boston. “We’re especially proud to feature Ernie Adams—one of the most influential minds behind the Patriots dynasty—offering rare, behind-the-scenes insights. Paired with Christian Fauria’s championship experience and Steve Burton’s trusted voice, this show delivers unmatched access and analysis for New England fans

Burton, a veteran sports anchor and reporter who has covered New England sports for over three decades, and son of Ron Burton – the running back for the New England Patriots and franchise’s first-ever draft pick – brings both a personal and professional connection of football to the anchor desk that will resonate with New Englanders.  Adams is making a rare public appearance after decades of working on the sidelines. As the New England Patriots’ former longtime director of football research, Adams was instrumental in shaping strategy, scouting and game planning during the Patriots’ six Super Bowls wins. Adams will bring insightful commentary and analysis on game plays.

Fauria played 13 seasons in the NFL, most notably with the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. Fauria brings to the desk a player’s perspective and several championship titles.

The weekly show will air every Tuesday throughout the New England Patriots season on CBS Boston’s WSBK-TV38, CBS News Boston and CBS Boston YouTube channel, with segments shared across all CBS Boston social media platforms.

Keep your head on a swivel in that octagon, Joe Rogan. Pod Save America, there's no saving you. You're about to lose your touch, Meidas Touch. The Rest is History, you may BE history. Your days are numbered, all you True Crime shows and NPR news chats. Pardon My Take, you'll just have pardon Ernie Adams. Because this Man of Mystery, this colorful storyteller,  this raconteur, this hail fellow well met who's just about seen and done it all over his half a century-plus in the world's greatest game has just entered the Thunderdome.  Where many have entered, and it's possible that he'll be the only one to leave.

I mean, just consider some the anecdotes he's shared just since he retired from football. Absolute bangers, every one of them:

And as far as the co-hosts, Steve Burton has been a staple of the Boston media for decades, and is a Patriots legacy, since his father Ron was the first official draft pick of the Boston Patriots in 1960. And Christian Fauria worked with Ernie as a member of the Patriots Two Ring Club, and did afternoons for years at my alma mater, WEEI. These are two guys who'll understand the value of putting the conversational ball in Ernie Adams' hands, and letting the man cook.

Step aside, podcast space. Make way for your new king.
