The Patriots Have a New Italian Sub as They Pick Up Tommy DeVito Off Waivers

I've been having this raging debate with a Patriots fan friend over the last day or so. A Syracuse grad (like virtually 75% of Boston sports media, by the way; there are almost as many Orangemen in this market as there are guys who would donate a major organ to Bruce Springsteen if he'd do one more encore at his next show), this friend insisted that the Pats pick up Kyle McCord, who owns every Syracuse passing record there is.
Fine. I'll concede that as a football decision, McCord would be the better addition to the depth chart. But as much as I can respect the pure ability as a thrower of footballs, I am, at heart and by profession, a Barstool blogger. I'm here for the show. I want someone who's going to put eyeballs on screens and give me that sweet, sweet blogworthy content. And I'm getting the 'Cuse QB of my dreams:
I'm getting this guy:
Tommy Cutlets. The 6-Foot American Hero. And for the time being at least, a New England Patriot.
I'm happy for me. But I'm especially happy for all my Italian Masshole brethren in places like Revere, Chelsea, Everett, the North End (if they haven't all be gentrified out by now). That segment of the population hasn't had a folk hero to call their own since Andrew Benintendi left. And assuming he sticks, Devito gives them that guy.
I'm just sorry he wasn't here sooner. His presence would've made things in camp a lot more entertaining than Ben Wooldridge did (with all due respect). Now the best case scenario is he never comes close to taking a snap other than killing the clock in blowout wins while a perfectly healthy Drake Maye smiles on the sideline. Then, we get to watch him cook come OTAs. For now, just knowing he's here and in a Pats uniform will have to do. And that's good enough.
