Keegan Bradley's Biggest Flaw? The Man Has Way Too Much Class

Keegan Bradley doesn't owe the PGA of America dick. The moment he was snubbed from the 2023 Ryder Cup team, he knew he'd only have so many more opportunities to actually play in another Ryder Cup. If any at all. And it wasn't just that Zach Johnson left Keegan Bradley off the team in Italy, but USA ended up getting their shit rocked. Getting snubbed is one thing, but at least you could understand it if the team went on to win. Team USA getting the piss knocked out of them had to feel extra insulting to Keegan Bradley sitting there on his couch. Whether he would ever admit it or not.
And sure. They attempted to mend that fence by naming Keegan Bradley as the captain for this year's Ryder Cup team. But the man is still a competitor. He's still playing some great golf, and winning some big events. He's played himself onto this team, and there wouldn't be any reason to question his decision if he put himself onto this year's team.
The issue is that Keegan Bradley has too much class. I know he's from the Northeast, but it's almost like he's Canadian at this point. He was all class when he was left off the team in 2023, and now he has too much class to take a roster spot for himself even though he has one everything he needed in order to actually earn that playing spot.
Plenty of people are going to applaud Keegan Bradley for this decision. It's not easy to put the ego aside, and also put your own self-interest to the side in order to do what you feel is best for the team. But at the same time…it's a decision that lacks the sort of edge you'd be looking for Team USA's mentality heading into this Ryder Cup. This team got their asses handed to them for breakfast by the Euros in Italy. They need to be coming into Bethpage with an unquenchable thirst for blood. The killer attitude here would have been for Keegan Bradley to want to beat Europe's ass so bad that he'd have to do it himself. It was a classy move to leave himself off the team, but was it actually the right one? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
