All Things Considered, Pilots Should Be Allowed To Walk Around Drunk And Naked At Luxury Hotels To Blow Off A Little Steam

BBC -- EasyJet has suspended one of its captains after he was reportedly seen roaming a luxury hotel drunk and naked.

The unnamed pilot was witnessed walking through common areas of a five-star resort in Cape Verde without any clothes on in the early hours of the morning on 5 August, after an extended drinking session in a bar, according to the Sun.

He was due to operate a return flight to Gatwick more than 36 hours later, but was grounded after the budget airline received complaints about the incident and a replacement pilot found.

Can we just stop and think about how crazy flying is for a moment here. Human beings have been on this Earth for a couple hundred thousand years, depending on what source you're drawing from. At the very least, let's just say that modern humans have been around for 200,000 years. And it wasn't until the last hundred years or so that we've been able to take a group of humans up in the sky and have them travel across the goddamn globe at 500 miles per hour. Over land, over water. Able to get anywhere in the world in less than a day.

It used to take months to travel the Oregon Trail, and that was just 200 years ago. You can get from Missouri to Oregon in 4 hours now. What I'm getting at here is that I don't think we truly appreciate how ridiculous it is that we're able to fly anywhere in the world right now. If you were able to take someone traveling the Oregon Trail in 1834 and show them what modern commercial airlines look like right now, they'd think you were being transported by a god.

Which is all to say that pilots deserve to live their life by a different set of rules. These folks are in charge of making sure hundreds of people are able to travel thousands of miles through the sky from one destination and land safely in another. They're not sitting in an office working on spreadsheets. They have a crazy job, and sometimes a crazy job requires something a little more…excessive to decompress. If a pilot needs to get completely buckled at a luxury hotel bar in Africa and walk around with his cock and balls out? Then it is what it is. They've earned the right to play by a different set of rules.

Also, can I say something real quick without offending anybody? All I'll say is that I've never seen an overly large pilot before. For the most part, they all seem to be in pretty decent shape. So it's not like a pilot walking around naked is going to be shockingly repulsive or anything. Just tell him to throw on a pair of shorts and move on with the rest of your night.
