We've Reached The Point Where It's Just Brutal Watching Tommy Fleetwood Collapse Down The Stretch Of A Tournament Again
I've said it before, but I'm a huge Tommy Fleetwood fan. Just love watching him play ... except when it comes to the last 4-6 holes of any tournament on a Sunday where he has the lead. It happened again. +1 over the last 3 holes while Justin Rose went on a run to catch him and force a playoff with JJ Spaun. Missed putts, a par on the 16th par-5, it was just the same old story. I don't know how else to explain it where it feels like everyone kind of moved on from shock or anything like that watching him keep coming up in second or third place at a tournament. It's just brutal watching Tommy Fleetwood on late Sunday's.
Not really breaking news here, but it's fucking hard to win on the PGA Tour. But this had to be the one for Tommy. He didn't even have Scottie run him down! Nothing against Spaun/Rose, but you expect Scottie to do Scottie things. All he had to do was play average on the last 3 holes and we're talking about him finally winning. I don't know how he does these interviews after something like this and not explode.
At some point you think Tommy Fleetwood is going to win, but we keep saying it. I want him to win. Like I said, I love watching him play and he's one of my favorite golfers on tour. But, man, I'd be throwing shit, doing anything different in an interview like this. Meanwhile we have Spaun and Rose lipping out putts in the playoff. Cruelest sport in the world. Can't wait to play again!
