Howard Stern Is Allegedly "Re-Energized" After Learning His Show Is Being Canceled And Wants To Prove He's Still The Best Interviewer In Media

Source - Reports of his SiriusXM show’s impending end have allegedly re-energized radio icon Howard Stern, who insiders say wants to prove he’s still one of the best interviewers around.
“He’s in a bring-it-on mind frame,” the source said, adding the self-described “King of All Media,” whose $500 million contract runs out in mere months, is considering a shift to video streaming.
“If he signs with Sirius again or anywhere else, it will be his last contract,” the source told DailyMail. “If Sirius doesn’t sign him, he will have a backup plan. He is not going to allow anyone [to] be the reason for the end of his career besides himself and what he wants to do.”
Let me be the first to say that I hate all the Howard Stern slander. If you can't appreciate what this man has done in media, then you're an idiot. I realize that he's gone super lib and that's a major turn off for a lot of people (myself included), but in his prime there was no one better at conducting an interview than Howard. Why? Because he was able to disarm his guests in a way that no other host could. And I get it, people change. Howard went from a young, hungry, shock-jock, to a man worth almost $1 BILLION, but that doesn't negate the fact that he had a TERRESTRIAL RADIO SHOW with 20 MILLION DAILY LISTENERS. Think about that. 20. million. daily. listeners. You don't see that kind of success unless you are supremely talented at what you do. It also doesn't hurt when you have a whacked out Artie Lange spilling every intimate detail of his life on air. Mix in some hot women, some on air fights, and you've got the most entertaining show on radio.
That said, the time has come. Howard needs to hang it up and he knows it. This whole "re-energized" thing is nothing more than a bit to save face. What could Howard possibly do that would rationalize Sirius (or anyone) paying him $500 million for 125,000 daily listeners? More people have heard Mike Katic's fart than listened to his last episode…
It's sad, but it's true. Celebrities are no longer afraid to say crazy shit, which is the entire reason people went on Stern in the first place. He had a platform and now everyone does. It's in your pocket in the form of an iPhone. Also, why would he not just retire? You've done it, dude. Don't be the guy who needs to be dragged away from your desk. Leave now and people will still respect you. Keep digging into this political bullshit and you'll lose whatever's left of your audience. Here's what an "anonymous source" had to say…
The source described Stern as being “pumped up” by the speculation over his next move.
“Howard likes what he likes and though he could be bitter on how things are going, it isn’t anything new to him,” the source offered. “He also isn’t blaming things on his age; the world has changed. He has changed himself. If he didn’t, he would have been gone a long time ago.
“He still wants to figure something out to stay, especially for his team that would mostly be affected,” the source continued.
So there you have it. It'll be interesting to see what happens, but something tells me Howard knows the writing is on the wall. He just has to pretend like he doesn't see it.
