All Eyes Will Be On Cleveland As Shedeur Sanders Has Been Named QB1 For The Browns (Preseason) Opener

And the award for the biggest non-story that's going to be the headline story goes to.....Shedeur Sanders being named the starter for the Browns first preseason game!

Now don't get me wrong, I do find it interesting. I find the entire Browns quarterback fiasco about 50% embarrassing, 50% interesting. We already have the product of the worst trade in NFL History on our sidelines in an injured Deshaun Watson, and we've paired him (is it paired if it's five more people?) with veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, as well as rookies Dillion Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders....and then brought in Tyler Huntley for good measure.

You know what they say: if you have six quarterbacks you don't have one. And honestly, that's probably the biggest problem we have here. None of these guys are any good, are they? And the decision making makes zero sense. Why did we draft two quarterbacks in the 3rd and 5th round? (And why did we draft Dillion Gabriel in the 3rd round regardless??). But we knew the media frenzy that would come from all of this. And now, the tale as old as time, is that even if these QBs were going to be any good...they won't be in Cleveland. We put dudes in such weird and bad positions that they can't succeed here.

Anyways, I kind of went off on a tangent there. Point of the blog is now everyone is going to watch this preseason game vs the Panthers and overract and turn it into a think piece on how Shedeur is being set up to fail in Cleveland because he didn't run with the 1s. I thought Nate said it really well the other day, not every has to be a thing just because of his name:

….but unfortunately every single thing will be a thing for him, including this one. He's either going to be hyped up as a Hall of Famer or torn down as a failure based on his first drive. And if it's the Hall of Famer, he was drafted too low and the league conspired against him. If he's torn down, it'll be because of who the Browns surrounded him with.

I love a good media circus….I just wish it wasn't always in Cleveland.
