'Let 'Em Sleep. We're Working In The Shadows' - Geno Smith Will Never Waste A Chance To Cut A Promo, Keeps Trying To Hype The Raiders Up To The Rest Of The NFL

I know Geno Smith had his whole didn't write back promo, but ever since he got to Vegas he turned it up a notch. It started with this one: 

Now we have the whole let 'em sleep bit that I think every team has said at least once in the last 3 years. It's the go-to for any person talking about a team that kinda sucked the year before. You don't even have to kind of suck, I mean Kirby Smart does this at Georgia when they are expected to go undefeated. It's the easiest promo to cut because if it works everyone can point at it like they made some sort of crazy prediction. 

I get having confidence, it'd be very dumb for a starting quarterback to come out and be like, 'well, you know we aren't very good. I think we'll be looking to upgrade at pick 4 next year in the Draft.' No, every quarterback says the same type of shit about how this is the year it all turns around and they are going to be the league on notice. The problem here is you can't keep cutting promos. You gotta wait until you win a couple until you cut your next one. 

The Raiders are going to be fine, I guess? They upgraded at quarterback, coach and kept Maxx Crosby so that's all good. They obviously got Jeanty who should be a good running back. But they still play in the AFC West, which is arguably the toughest division in the league now. You still have to deal with the Chiefs, a Harbaugh and the Broncos defense. 

All I know is Geno better have a decent start because these quotes will be used over and over again if he struggles. That said, I appreciate him at least being willing to talk and not just give boring answers.
