For my money, "Dirrty" is the hottest music video of all-time. I'm surely biased since I was 13 years old when it dropped, but that was the day I learned assless chaps could be sexy.

Before then, I had only known them to be a disturbing dystopian trend from getting shown 'Mad Max 2: Road Warrior' at likely way too early an age. But it did teach me one thing...

But that music video was iconic for a number of reasons and a big one being the world premiere of Christina becoming Xtina. Up until that point she was following in the footsteps of Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, Hillary Duff etc and playing the polite innocent girl that's never hooked up with anyone. She only sings about kissing boys and getting her bottle rubbed, she doesn't actually do it. The Midwest would've imploded if she did.

People probably forget how fucking relentless it was in the early 2000s with the coverage of those pop stars. Britney being a virgin was a constant talking point and that definitely influenced the rest of the industry to follow suit. That is until Xtina launched tactical chaps on everyones ass and started doing photoshoots like this in Maxim.

Seemingly overnight the whole vibe changed and floodgates opened for all popstars to start letting loose. Even Britney was getting in the mix by this point. It became a McGwire vs Sosa type summer, masters of their craft just bashing homers left and right with hip shakes & snakes. What a time to be alive! God bless 2003.

And I guess I'm late to my own party cause Xtina has been back to this blazing level for over a year. I'm not even a little upset about that. Actually my heart feels quite full from this. If she can change, I can change, we all can change for the better. There's beauty in that.
